When you invest in a new commercial or residential floor, the finish you see on the surface is only part of the story. What really determines how long that floor lasts is how it is built, layer by layer, and the contractor who builds it. Not all flooring systems, and not all installers, are the same.

At Coating Concepts, the difference comes down to how we build a floor from the base up, and how we stand behind it long after the job is done.

It Starts with a Moisture Vapor Barrier

Concrete naturally releases moisture and vapor pressure from below. Without protection, that pressure pushes up against the floor coating, and it is one of the most common reasons flooring installations fail. A true moisture vapor barrier, or MVB, is engineered to hold that pressure back. A properly installed MVB can hold back up to 25 pounds of vapor and water pressure, creating a stable foundation for everything applied on top of it.

The Right Materials in the Right Place

A floor that lasts is built in layers, with each material used for what it is actually designed to do. We start with a moisture vapor barrier, follow it with a grout coat of 100% solid epoxy, and finish with a polyaspartic topcoat. Polyaspartic is an excellent topcoat. It cures quickly, resists abrasion, and holds up well to daily use, which is exactly the job it was made for.

The problem starts when companies use these products in the wrong place. Many installers apply polyaspartic, or a similar product called polyurea, as the base layer. Neither material provides vapor barrier protection, so the moisture pressure rising from the slab has nothing holding it back. Over time, that often leads to peeling, bubbling, and failure. Using a topcoat product as a base may speed up installation, but it leaves the floor far more likely to fail down the road. When the base is built correctly with a true MVB, the chance of that kind of failure is slim to none.

Backed by a Lifetime Warranty

Because we build our floors correctly from the base up, we stand behind them with a lifetime warranty. If anything ever goes wrong with a floor we install due to workmanship, we repair it free of charge. That level of confidence is only possible when a floor is engineered to last rather than rushed to completion.

The Right Choice for Your Facility or Home

A new floor is an investment in your facility or home, and it should last for years to come. We build with a true moisture vapor barrier, a 100% solid epoxy grout coat, and a polyaspartic topcoat. Each layer is used exactly as intended, delivering a finish built to stand up to real world demands. With competitive pricing and a lifetime workmanship warranty, Coating Concepts makes it easy to protect that investment.
